Welcome to ZebraTox

We are the first and only Argentine aquarium certified by ANMAT

The ZebraTox Platform of the National University of Quilmes is a pioneer in the country in providing biosafety validation services using zebrafish as an alternative animal model. It is the only one certified by ANMAT in the country.

Our services

We perform toxicological tests that can validate the safety of new drugs, cosmetics, foods, pesticides, and other chemical substances.

Ensayo de Toxicidad Aguda (OCDE 236)

Acute Toxicity

To determine the toxicity of chemical substances in just a few days. Its protocol is useful for assessing the safety of compounds.

Ensayo Teratogénesis

Speed

Results are obtained in just a few days due to the rapid development of the model, in addition to meeting the global scientific commitment to the ethical use of experimental animals.

Security

The fish are kept and bred in our aquarium, with limited access to qualified personnel to monitor their health and that of the water.

Precision

The zebrafish has 87% genetic similarity with humans, making it a highly predictive model.

UNQ/CONICET Professionals

The team is made up of researchers and technicians from CONICET and the National University of Quilmes.

ANMAT Certification

We are the only aquarium certified for toxicological testing in Argentina.

Low cost

The cost is lower compared to the same tests in mammals.
