Two UNQ researchers provided training on the Zebrafish model to ANMAT staff
06/08/2025
Doctors Carolina Martinez and Jimena Prieto, from the Department of Science and Technology at the National University of Quilmes (UNQ), participated this week in a specialized training session at the National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT), focused on the use of the Zebrafish model (Danio rerio) in biomedical research and toxicological evaluation.

During the activity, key aspects of the use of this non-traditional model were addressed, such as its applications in preclinical studies, genetics, embryonic development and replacement of conventional animal models, in line with the principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement).
The scientists also discussed topics related to water quality and potential pathologies to consider when breeding and maintaining zebrafish.
The participation of the UNQ researchers is part of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening ongoing training in alternative experimentation techniques and promoting the integration of more ethical and efficient models into national scientific research.
